Default of birth certificate: a problem of national interest in Cameroon
The declaration of a civil status fact is a mandatory principle (birth, marriage, death). However, the issue of establishing birth certificates in Cameroon remains relevant, despite government efforts to put an end to the phenomenon of children without birth certificates. It should be noted that the national birth registration rate for children under five is estimated at 66%. The situation is contrasted depending on the regions where the percentage of students without birth certificates varies between 3.77% for the Western region and 53% for the Northern region. In addition, 1,785,668 nursery and primary school children are without birth certificates.
