Municipal management: what if the legislative and municipal elections of February 2020 were an opportunity to develop political projects?
Law n ° 2019/024 of 24 December 2019 on the General Code of Decentralized Territorial Collectivities (CGCTD) raises a lot of hope among politicians, regions, communities and citizens. It lays down the founding principle of the territorial decentralization of the State in Cameroon, a fundamental axis for promoting development, democracy and good governance at the local level. The CGCTD defines: the legal framework, the status of local elected representatives, the rules of organization and operation of the CTDs, the special regime applicable to certain local authorities, as well as the financial regime of the CTDs. The challenge for the first elected representatives, during the double legislative and municipal ballot on Sunday, February 9, 2020, is to transform these hopes into reality. For us, the new municipalities should draw up clear political projects, while the initial diagnoses of existing local authorities reveal the extent of the work to be carried out and the amounts to be invested.
