The Telecommunication Regulatory Agency (ART) in the fulfillment of its mission to protect the consum
It has just rejected the technical and tariff offers, intended for operators and service providers. By this act, it wants to minimize the final rates applied. Thus, it rejected the catalog of interconnection and access operator Orange Cameroon for the year 2019, this a few weeks after MTN Cameroon. Indeed, it is a document that each operator presents its technical and tariff offers for wholesale services, applicable to operators and providers of electronic communication services. As if to say that if the interconnection tariff goes down, the retail rate should also go down. An explanation of this document would be that "when you are a MTN subscriber, for example, and you call Orange, if MTN charges you 90 F per minute of call, it would have to reverse to Orange 22 F corresponding to the interconnection for call termination. These rates are part of the operator's rate structure and represent 15% and 18% of the retail rate. Ali Soungui, Director of Licensing, Competition and Interconnection at ART, said. This rejection is part of the current regulations governing the orientation of interconnection rates to costs. It is therefore a question of reviewing the offer made to electronic communication service providers, in particular as regards the reduction of wholesale SMS rates, the revenue sharing grid of services making it possible to access, from a phone, to voice data sources, inserting an offer of USSD code usage at reasonable rates.
