Covid-19: Cameroon, the latest information on the evolution of the pandemic

The report of the Minister of Public Health (MINSANTE), Manaouda Malachie, on Thursday May 27, 2021 during the monthly Cabinet Council, reports 78,929 people infected with Covid-19 since the registration of the first cases in March 2020, 73,974 patients cured and 1,275 deaths, for a cure rate of 93.3% and a case fatality rate of 1.6%. Analysis of the epidemic curve reveals a continuous decrease in the number of cases since March 2021. Nevertheless, particular attention is paid to the conduct of preventive actions and to the intensification of the current vaccination campaign, which has already made it possible to vaccinate more than 65,000 people in Cameroon. The government has placed an order for four million doses of Johnson and Johnson, 30,000 doses of Sinopharm through the Chinese Embassy in Yaoundé. He is also expecting 8,500 doses of Sputnik V through a mobile phone company. The Prime Minister, Chief Joseph Dion Ngute, asks MINSANTE to continue operations aimed at optimizing the screening and vaccination campaign underway against Covid-19.
